Charles Robert Richmond, age 78 of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Massachusetts passed away Wednesday, June 06, 2012 at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Born June 5, 1934 in Dighton, Massachusetts he was the son of the late Ralph and Edith (Ballam) Richmond.
Charles spent most of his youth living in Taunton, Massachusetts before graduating from Cornell University in New York. He served three years in the US Army from 1957 – 1960 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. Charles retired as a television repair technician after 20 years of dedicated service from SEARS department store in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Following his retirement, Charles spent most of his time in Bourne, Massachusetts.
In 2010, Charles moved to Pennsylvania to be near his family. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, but most of all, he adored his grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his daughter Wendy L. Brittain and her husband Matthew of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania as well as two grandchildren Jessica and Justin Brittain. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Marcia D. Hitchins and her daughter Nicole Hitchins of LaVergne, Tennessee. Charles was preceded in death by his brother Bradford Richmond.
Private graveside services will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pennsylvania.
